Alex was flipping through the newspaper one morning when he spotted an ad that read:
“Circus Looking for New Talents!”
Alex scratched his head and said to himself, “Well… why not? I’m pretty talented.”
So he picked up the phone and called the number.
A woman answered. “Hello, circus office.”
“Hi! Is this the circus?” Alex asked excitedly.
“Yes, it is.”
“I saw your ad. I heard you’re hiring performers.”
“That’s correct, sir. And what is your name?”
“Alex.”
“Alright then, Alex,” she said politely. “What makes you think you’d be a good fit for the circus?”
Alex cleared his throat proudly. “Well… I have many talents. For example, I can shoot a three-pointer in basketball five times in a row!”
There was a short pause.
“O…kay,” the woman replied slowly. “That’s impressive, sir, but it’s not really what we’re looking for. Maybe you should call the NBA.”
“No, no, wait!” Alex said quickly. “I can also hula hoop for 30 seconds straight!”
Another pause.
“Sir… I don’t think you quite understand what circus acts normally involve—”
“Please! Just listen! I can jump on one leg while saying the alphabet backward!”
Now there was a long silence on the phone.
Finally the woman sighed.
“Sir… this really isn’t the kind of talent we’re looking for. I’m sorry.”
Click.
She hung up.
Alex stared at the phone for a few seconds, confused.
Then suddenly his eyes widened.
“Oh no!” he said, slapping his forehead.
“I forgot to tell her the most important part!”
He quickly grabbed the phone again and dialed.
When the woman answered, Alex said proudly:
“Sorry about that. I forgot to mention… I’m a horse.” 🐴🎪
