A husband went to see a marriage counsellor one afternoon.
He sat down, sighed deeply, and said, “Doctor, I need some advice about my marriage.”
The counsellor nodded. “Alright, tell me what’s going on.”
The husband began explaining.
“When we were first married, life was wonderful. I would come home from work, my wife would greet me at the door with a smile and bring me my slippers. Meanwhile our cute little dog would run around the house barking happily.”
The counsellor smiled. “That sounds like a lovely start to a marriage.”
The husband sighed again.
“Yes… but now things are very different.”
“How so?” the counsellor asked.
“Well,” the husband said, “after ten years of marriage, when I come home from work… the dog brings my slippers… and my wife runs around barking.”
The counsellor sat quietly for a moment, thinking.
Then he shrugged and said,
“Well… why are you complaining?”
The husband looked confused.
The counsellor continued,
“You’re still getting the exact same service.”
He leaned back in his chair and added with a smile,
“In the corporate world… we call that restructuring the staff.” 😄
