A couple was out Christmas shopping at the mall on Christmas Eve. The place was absolutely packed—crowds everywhere, long lines, kids running around, Christmas music blasting from every corner.
The wife was moving quickly from store to store, trying to finish their shopping list before the mall closed. Suddenly she looked around and realized something.
Her husband was gone.
Completely gone.
She spun around looking through the crowd but couldn’t see him anywhere. Now she was getting annoyed. They still had a lot of shopping to do, and he had just disappeared!
So she pulled out her phone and called him.
When he answered, she said, slightly irritated,
“Where are you? The mall is crazy and you just vanished!”
Her husband replied in a calm, thoughtful voice.
“Honey… do you remember that jewellery store we went into about five years ago?”
The wife paused.
“You know,” he continued, “the one where you saw that beautiful diamond necklace and you completely fell in love with it… but we couldn’t afford it at the time?”
Her voice suddenly softened.
“Yes… yes, I remember that jewellery store,” she said, her eyes starting to fill with tears.
“And remember how I told you that one day… I would come back and buy it for you?”
Now she was really emotional.
“Yes,” she said quietly, almost crying. “I remember.”
There was a short pause.
Then the husband said,
“Well…”
“I’m in the bar right next to it.” 😄
