A woman went to her doctor’s office.
She was seen by one of the new doctors, but after about 4 minutes in the examination room, she burst out screaming and ran down the hall.
Mrs. Terry rushed into a doctor’s office looking very uncomfortable and slightly embarrassed.
A young, newly hired doctor greeted her and asked what was wrong.
Between little bursts of sound, she explained, “Doctor… hic… I’ve had the hiccups… hic… for two days straight… hic… and nothing is helping!”
The young doctor looked at her for a moment, then suddenly stood up, pointed at her, and shouted loudly,
“Mrs. Terry, you’re pregnant!”
Mrs. Terry gasped, jumped up out of the chair, and ran out of the room in complete shock.
A few minutes later, an older, experienced doctor in the clinic noticed Mrs. Terry sitting in the hallway, looking pale and shaken.
He asked gently, “Mrs. Terry, what’s wrong?”
She explained what had just happened.
The older doctor looked horrified and immediately stormed down the hallway into the young doctor’s office.
“What on earth is the matter with you?” the older doctor demanded angrily. “Mrs. Terry is 63 years old! She has four grown children and seven grandchildren, and you told her she was pregnant?”
