Little Johnny Asks His Father.

Little Johnny was sitting at the kitchen table while his mom was busy cooking dinner. His father was reading the newspaper, enjoying a quiet evening—until Johnny suddenly looked up with a curious expression.

“Dad,” Johnny asked loudly, “why do grown-ups like to exercise in bed?”

His mother froze mid-stir at the stove. Slowly, very slowly, she leaned closer to the kitchen doorway so she could hear the answer. She figured this should be interesting.

Dad nearly dropped his newspaper. He cleared his throat and tried to sound calm.

“Well… uh… because it makes grown-ups happy.”

Johnny’s eyes lit up. “I want to be happy too!”

Dad smiled nervously. “You will be someday, son. But you have to wait until you’re a grown-up.”

Johnny thought about that for a moment, swinging his legs under the chair.

“Okay,” he said, “but when I grow up… who will exercise with me?”

Dad wiped sweat from his forehead. “Well… hopefully when you get married, your wife will exercise with you.”

Johnny nodded thoughtfully. Everything seemed to make sense so far.

Then he asked another question.

“Dad?”

“Yes, Johnny?”

“How come our neighbor Sally exercises with you?”

In the kitchen, the spoon clattered loudly against the pot.

Dad turned pale.

Before he could say a single word, Johnny continued innocently, “I saw you two exercising in the garage yesterday!”

At that exact moment, Johnny’s mom burst out of the kitchen like a tornado.

Dad tried to explain.

Johnny tried to explain.

Nobody was listening.

Ten minutes later, the neighbors watched as an ambulance pulled up outside the house.

The paramedics carefully loaded Dad onto a stretcher while Mom stood nearby with her arms crossed.

Johnny looked confused and whispered to a paramedic, “Wow… grown-up exercise must be really dangerous.”
